The Ambassador of Switzerland Mrs Ruth Flint has paid a courtesy call on President Nasheed. The call was held today at the President’s Office.

At the meeting, the President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations between the Maldives and Switzerland and ways to further strengthen these relations.

Informing the Ambassador of the government’s intention to make the Maldives World’s first carbon neutral country within the next decade, the President discussed with the Ambassador, how the Swiss government could assist the Maldives in this endeavour. He also welcomed Swiss investments in the Maldives.

The Ambassador congratulated President Nasheed for successfully establishing a modern democratic system in the Maldives. She also said expressed interest in the government’s plan to make the Maldives a carbon neutral country and said would collaborate with the concerned authorities in providing assistances to the Maldives.
