President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday renamed the "Embassy of the Maldives in Washington" to the "Embassy of the Republic of Maldives to the United States of America." The announcement was made public through a directive released by the President's Office this afternoon.
The President made the decision under the discretion vested in the President by Section 116 (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.
The President made the decision on Sunday, September 25, 2022.
The directive also specifies that the number 488 should be used in all official documents sent to the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives to the United States of America.
