President Mohamed Nasheed has congratulated Mr David Cameron on his assumption of office as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Congratulating Mr Cameron on his electoral success, President Nasheed expressed his confidence that Mr Cameron’s election will usher in a “golden era” of political and economic development in the United Kingdom.
In a letter sent to Prime Minister Cameron, President Nasheed said during Mr Cameron’s tenure as the Prime Minister, the UK foreign policy, and its relations with South Asia would be further strengthened.
In his letter, President Nasheed also expressed his confidence that the UK would play “a more prominent role in the global climate change.”
“I believe under your guidance, the UK has the potential to be a world leader on this crucial issue”, President Nasheed said on climate change, in his letter to Prime Minister Cameron.
