At a meeting held today in Kuala Lumpur during President Nasheed's ongoing visit to Malaysia, Kosovo's President Dr Fatmir Sejdiu has thanked the government of the Maldives for being one of the first countries to recognise Kosovo’s independence.
The Maldives extended full diplomatic recognition to the Republic of Kosovo in February 2009.
The two leaders also discussed ways in which bilateral relations, especially in the areas of trade and culture, could be strengthened.
The President is visiting Malaysia to address the 6th World Islamic Economic Forum.
