During his visit to malaysia to attend the 6th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), President Mohamed Nasheed has met with the Chairman of the WIFE Foundation Tun Musa Hitam today.
At the meeting, President spoke on the importance of widening the Forum, and said that the Maldives would provide assistance to further strengthen the Forum.
President Nasheed also noted the important contribution of Tun Musa Hitam to the democratic reform process in the Maldives. He served as the Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to the Maldives from 2005 to assist the democratic developments in the Maldives.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the WIEF Foundation thanked President Nasheed for his presence at this year’s Forum. He also said that the WIEF Foundation wanted to hold the Forum annually, and make the Forum more substantive and useful.
Tun Musa Hitam also served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia between 1981 and 1986.
