President Mohamed Nasheed has today ratified the Judicature bill and the Copyrights bill.
Following ratification, the two bills have now been published in the Government Gazette.
The Judicature Act, passed by the People’s Majlis on 13 October, specifies the division of Courts, hierarchy of Courts and the jurisdiction of the Courts as well as matters concerning the administration of the Courts.
The Copyrights Act applies to all the products originate from the Maldives, and products that are owned by parties specified in the international conventions the Maldives is party to.
The Copyrights Bill was passed by the People’s Majlis on 6 October 2010.
