Vice President Faisal Naseem inaugurated the extension building and new services at Fuvahmulah Hospital on Thursday. The function was held at Fuvahmulah Hospital tonight. The Vice President is currently on a visit to Addu and Fuvahmulah cities.

Speaking at the function, the Vice President emphasised that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attaches high priority to developing and improving healthcare services across the country. He added that, as part of the administration’s healthcare sector development plan, it had built the extension building in Fuvahmulah Hospital within a short period.

Speech therapy was one of the new services introduced at Fuvahmulah Hospital. The Vice President noted that it had been a long-awaited service by the Fuvahmulah community since the introduction of special education needs classes at Hafiz Ahmed School in 2013.

The Vice President also spoke about the administration’s spending to develop new services and facilities at the hospital. The administration introduced dental care and dialysis services at Fuvahmulah Hospital in 2019.

The Vice President also noted the other infrastructure development projects in the city initiated by the administration, including the road construction project. He added that projects are underway to address space constraints at the city’s schools.

In conclusion, the Vice President noted that the administration had initiated more projects in the city over the past four years than those carried out over the previous 40 years. He also called on the management and staff of the hospital to prioritise the best possible medical care for their patients.

The new extension building of the hospital features O.P.D. consultation rooms and a laboratory, while the new services officially launched tonight include physiotherapy, speech therapy, and mental health services. After the function, the Vice President toured the new extension block and inquired about its operations.
