As part of his tour to some islands of Faafu and Dhaalu Atoll that he began today, President Mohamed Nasheed has visited Dharanboodhoo, Faafu Atoll.

 
Addressing the people of Dharanboodhoo, President Nasheed reiterated that the government’s policies were devised to deliver its electoral pledges. He said the government’s electoral pledges were the result of extensive consultation and discussion with the people.
 
This year’s budget, the President said, was estimated and later approved by the parliament, to facilitate delivery of the government’s pledges.
 
Speaking in Dharanboodhoo, the President highlighted the achievements of the government in delivering its pledges, especially providing social protection, in the island.
 
Noting the achievements in providing social protection, the President said, 68 residents of Dharanboodhoo were insured under Madhana health insurance scheme. Further, he said 12 residents of the island continued to receive old age pension and 6 residents begun to receive social security benefits given to people with special needs and single parents.
 
The President is visiting the islands to discuss with the people the development programmes allocated for the development of their respective island.
