President Mohamed Nasheed has signed two decrees, affirming “Bilhifeyshi” area and “Thoon’du” area of Fuvammulah as two uninhabited islands, under the Decentralization Act.

The President signed both the decrees at a special meeting held in Fuvahmulah today, under the theme of “Role of SAARC in the Development of Fuvahmulah”.

Speaking at the meeting, President Nasheed revealed that these two islands are to be utilized for tourism purposes, and that the government will begin the construction of a resort in one of the islands in the next week.

The resort will be built in the “Thoon’du” area and the airport is to be established in the “Bilhifeyshi” area.
