The cabinet has today decided to study power usage at government institutions and take steps to eliminate power dissipation. The decision was made at the cabinet meeting held this afternoon. The cabinet also decided to inaugurate a programme tomorrow against power wastage, which will also include independent agencies.

At today’s meeting, members discussed on the importance of investigating and regulating power usage at government institutions.

Minister of Housing and Environment Mohamed Aslam shared with members of the cabinet, the regulation programme carried out at the Ministry of Housing and Environment, to manage and control its power usage. The Minister informed that 24% of expenditure on power has been saved since the regulation programme, and briefed on the steps taken at the ministry.
