President Mohamed Nasheed has today met with members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) at the President’s Office. The meeting was held at the President’s invitation.
Discussions at the meeting were focused on the appointment of judges in accordance with the law, JSC’s investigations of disciplinary issues relating to judges, and on measures taken by the JSC on those issues. Discussions were also on the Supreme Court’s issuing of statements on matters without legal rulings or before cases are submitted to the Supreme Court.
President Nasheed expressed regret and concern over JSC President’s declining of his invitation to today’s meeting.
President Nasheed thanked the other members of the Commission for accepting his invitation and for their input on matters relating to the Judicial Service Commission. The members also thanked the President for the invitation.
