Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Stakeholder Conference on Children’s Shelters 2012, Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed has said that the enrichment programmes at children’s shelters would help produce better citizens. The conference is being organised by Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC). Dr Waheed also congratulated ARC, for their remarkable work undertaken over a very short period.

Noting that a high number of children are living at shelters, Vice President
expressed concern over the continued rise in the number.

At the ceremony, project commitments were signed between contributors and the respective agencies, for technical and financial assistance for the improvement of services provided at government shelters for children.
