Vice President Faisal Naseem stated on Thursday that changes made by the administration over the past two years to the operations and management of the Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) were yielding positive results. He made these remarks during a meeting with the senior management and staff of the hospital.

As part of the Vice President’s ongoing visit to Addu City, he visited AEH, met with the senior management and staff, and called on some patients at the hospital and inquired about their well-being. He arrived in Addu City earlier Thursday morning.

Speaking at the meeting with the senior management of AEH, the Vice President noted the numerous changes made by the administration to the management and operations of the healthcare centres in Addu City managed by AEH. He also urged them to prioritise the best possible medical care for patients and strive towards improving healthcare standards.

At the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of AEH, Dr Mohamed Solih, briefed the Vice President about the progress made over the past two years in improving service standards. He also noted that efforts are underway to acquire ISO certification for the laboratory at the hospital.

Work to develop a catheterisation laboratory at the hospital is also in progress. The 102-bed tertiary hospital is managed by an independent governing board constituted by the President.

After the meeting, the Vice President visited the development site of the central power station of FENAKA Corporation. There, he inquired about the progress of the project. He is currently on a five-day visit to Addu and Fuvahmulah cities.
